Pesco-Beam engineers hydrotreating systems which refine the recovery process, one step further, to a complete and cleaner recovered oil which will meet or exceed API standards.
Hydrotreating is considered today as one of the few processes that can produce re-refined base oils of equal quality as the primary base oils.
Hydrofinishing of the lube oil distillate removes chlorinated contaminants, nitrogen compounds, sulfur compounds, oxygenated compounds and the small quantity of non lube components recovered from the used oils with the lube oil fraction. The hydrofinishing is performed over a suitable catalyst and allowed to purify and upgrade the oil fraction in color, oxidation stability, acidity, emulsification characteristics and other quality requirement. Chlorinated contaminants and nitrogen compounds are converted into ammonium chloride. Sulfur is removed as hydrogen sulphide.
By this process, a finished lube oil product is obtained which has excellent lube properties such as general appearance (odor, color), stability and additive response, whereas viscosity and gravity essentially do not change. Viscosity Index may improve somewhat.
The system consists of three sections, the hydrogen production, the reaction and the separation section. The main equipment of the reaction section will be the hydrotreating reactors, the shield beds, the recycle gas compressor and the make-up hydrogen compressor. The hydrogen to the plant will be provided through supply from a gas company or produced on site.
As a final step the hydrotreated oil is fractionated under vacuum to separate out the gasoil fraction formed during the hydrofinishing and split the lube oil into the desired finished cuts.
